Fifteen

Mugison
Mugiboogie

On Mugiboogie, Iceland's prodigal son mines Plastic Ono Band Lennon, Beck 'n Waits and comes awfully close to finding that fine point between unhinged madness and glowin' flesh 'n bone back porch soul.

Mugison - "Jesus is a Good Name to Moan"

Fourteen

Little Joy
Little Joy

Little Joy's self-titled debut LP is filled to the gills with sounds wrapped in sunbeams and the simple laid back Latin garage swoon of Los Hermanos frontman Rodrigo Amarante's vocals.

Little Joy - "No One's Better Sake"

Thirteen

Morning Benders
Talking Through Tin Cans

Have no fear patients, there is a new kind of musical morning bender out there on the sunny horizon. As you know, the asylum is always fighting for the liberation of good music, this is why we want to introduce you to Berkley, CA’s very own Morning Benders. Today we are writing you out a prescription to check out their eleven song cosmic sunny California pop debut, Talking Through Tin Cans.

The Morning Benders - "Boarded Doors"

Twelve

Department of Eagles
In Ear Park

In Ear Park is therapy for yer musical soul. It's no lie that the LP is filled with a kaleidoscope of colors and collection of pop glory that you won't want to give back.

Department of Eagles - "No One Does It Like You"

Eleven

The Moondoggies
Don't Be A Stranger

Today we have a band of rock ‘n roll gypsies that "The King of the Moondoggers", Alan Freed would be proud of. Be warned patients, The Moondoggies hail from the great Pacific Northwest and recently released their debut record, Don’t Be A Stranger-an album filled with gallons of Rhodes lines, three-part harmonies, fuzzed drenched guitars and whiskey-soaked knife-edged soul. Think The Byrds meet Crazy Horse and The Band.

The Moondoggies - "Changing"

Ten

The Last Shadow Puppets
The Age Of The Understatement

The Last Shadow Puppets cinemascope-esque LP The Age of the Understatement is filled with femme fatales, dockloads of sexy vibrato and a Brit beat John Berry 007-spaghetti Western Ennio Morricone vibe. Who knew a pair of 22-year-olds could create an album that sounds like a 60s hip British spy film? The seducin’ sounds of the LP were produced by Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford and the lush orchestration was provided by a 22-piece London Metropoloitian Orchestra and Owen Pallett of Final Fantasy fame.

The Last Shadow Puppets - "The Age Of The Understatement"

Nine

The Raconteurs
Consolers of the Lonely

With Consolers of the Lonely it looks like the aristocratic horsemen of rock Jack White, his power-popper buddy Brendan Benson and the rest of the Nashville-based Raconteurs have created a 14-song almost masterwork complete with murder ballads, sonic squeezes and stingin' electricity.

The Raconteurs - "Carolina Drama"

These are some rad-ass albums Dr. M. Can't wait to see the next batch. I like TV on the Radio as album of the years.
