A Christmas Gift For You From Doctor Mooney

Dear Patients:

During the past year we have been sayin' if the 115th Dream had a house band and were thinkin' of recordin' our debut LP Doctors Orders, Phil Spector would not be chosen as the producer. Don't get us wrong he was the master of those boomin' visionary sounds. But, we don't need to be kooked up in Xanadu with a parade of wooden soldiers, the shrunken man and an armory of handguns. That's not our pill.

But after a few spiked eggnog lattes we would reconsider. After puttin' our stethoscopes together and givin' it some further thought we would love to have the symphonic madman...Phil Spector lend his wicked marks to our first annual 115th Dream Christmas album. Come on patients! It's for the sake of Christmas and for Santy Claus. If it was for an Xmas album it would be worth havin' the good doctors tied to hospital beds with snub-nosed revolvers pointed our way.

Today in the asylum waiting room we have a great stocking stuffer and the single greatest holiday album with all of it's majestic Christmas power. The LP that we play loud 'n clear during asylum holiday after-hours. If you have yet to pick up the 1963 Christmas album A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector we highly suggest you get in the holiday spirit and take a listen.

The album includes a full stable of Phil Spector's singers: Darlene Love, The Ronettes, The Crystals, Bob B. Soxx & The Blue Jeans sing all the Christmas staples from "White Christmas" to "Silent Night". It wouldn't be a famous Spector album without the voices and sounds bein' teamed up with the young 'n nimble soundscapes of the Wall of Sound.

When the album was released it was sinkin' ship of a failure. Mostly because the LP was released on the day that President Kennedy was assassinated. Now, forty-four years label this album is a classic. From Brian Wilson callin' it his favorite album to the Boss and U2 tryin' to reproduce them wall of sound Christmas sounds.

Should You DL? Of course, as your Doctor, I advise you to download your daily dosage of MP3s...
